We’ve all been there before, the morning after a night of over indulging on liquid courage. It doesn’t have to be all pain however. What follows are some tips on how to lessen the pain and get on with your day.
1. Fluids – Drink electrolyte rich water or sports drinks. Natural juices help maintain and replenish sugar blood levels. Choose fructose (use the left over honey from your DIY facial) over sucrose (white sugar); it is absorbed quicker and further completes the metabolism of alcohol. If your stomach is upset stay away from acidic juices and go for a tall glass of cold natural apple juice instead.
2. Drugs – Multi Vitamins or simple Vitamin B or C can go a long way toward a rapid recovery. Take the recommended dose with a tall glass of water and let your body do the rest. You may think all pain medication is made equal. However, refrain from Tylenol or any other acetaminophen. Instead take the recommended dosage of your favourite non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as aspirin or ibuprofen.
3. Food – Crackers, like juices help maintain blood sugar levels so take a few pieces and watch your favourite movie. If you wish to stay away from carbs then a banana is a great alternative. With tons of potassium, a banana will replenish much needed nutrients and its good for you. Fruits for that matter are a great alternative. The darker the better – strawberries and blueberries are a no brainer.
4. Rest – Sleep it away. Roll down the shades, close the curtains and turn off the phone. If need be call sick and tell them you’ve got the flu. Just make sure your boss was not throwing them back with you or you’ll be called on it.We hope these tips are of some help as you recover from a night of debauchery. Above all try not to over do it and most importantly do not drink and drive. In addition, consult a medical professional before taking any sort of medication.
